The Rockery
New
construction strips a yard down to nothing. This yard had a steep
slope; it was poorly stabilized with a low two-foot retaining
wall. Burlap covered the soil and it was poorly planted with lavender
to prevent erosion. In this family photo you can see the wall they
are sitting on with the stretch of hillside behind. A rockery was
installed, soil amended and planting began.
The clients were avid gardeners, so DTEGI
supplied the plants, and after a brief coaching session showing
the proper way to plant plants, we started. The lawn was seeded
shortly after planting. A few plants were added in the spring which
had been unavailable previously and after only a few months…well,
take a look.
Projects take time to plan, plant, and grow!
But grow they will. This past summer was unusually warm; it felt
a little like California right here in Washington, so the project
shown here was planned in the spring of 2002, planted the fall and
it popped in the summer of 2003!
